Lip Service was founded in 1985 by Angela Soto Amigoni.
The philosophy used by Lip Service is to provide language courses that can satisfy personal needs with maximum flexibility, in order to allow students to achieve their objectives in the best way possible.
“Lip Service – The American School with that Personal Touch”.
We believe that learning should be personal and fun. Our lessons are relaxed but challenging. Your time learning will be something that you will be looking forward to every week.
Lip Service offers courses in small groups or on an individual basis and they are specifically designed to help students communicate correctly and effectively at any level, both socially and professionally.

The Way We Were
October 1985 . . . Lip Service opened as a service at Centro Direzionale Colleonibusiness park. Among the first clients: Publitalia ‘80, IPSOA, Black &Decker, Mita and IBM — all eager to have their managers learn English the American way.
Over the last two decades, we have taught some 10,000 students coming from over 300 companies. . . . everyone from secretaries to entertainers.
- In 1989, we conducted a two year intensive course for S.G.S. Thompson engineers who were to be transferred throughout the world.
- In 1992, we trained the tongues of soccer players Gullit, Van Baasten and Rykard and their teammates from AC Milan.
- In the mid 90s, there were our executive workshops in Tuscany and visiting MBA professors from the Univerity of Arizona.
- The Merate office opened in 2000 and we turned our attention to younger students with English and French classes for kids and madre lingua projects at the local schools.
- During this time, we also trained and certified teachers to teach English better with the Via Lingua program.
Lip Service Today
This year, we’re proud to be part of ETS and to become an official TOEFL testing center. But we’ve got to admit it’s not just been hard work. In keeping with the American style, Lip Service hosted Square Dancing Night where one hundred students and teachers learned to kick up their heels and square dance and tasted real chili con carne (muy picante!). Many Friday evening, we said“T.G.I.F.” (Thank God It’s Friday) and conversed with our students in lingua over drinks and appetizers. At Christmas, we organized parties and sang carols.
All in all, we’ve had agreat time over the last years and look forward to a future filled with more challenges and fun.
